Background on Tech!

The internet is a network that allows all computers all over the world to connect and interact by the use of an internet connection. individuals can send and receive information without having to move anything other than a finger. The internet was considered official on January 1st in the year 1983. Beginning in the year 1960, the internet worked for a singular computer, with no flexibility and or capacity of sending anything to other users. Shortly after that, in 1970, there was a collaboration to develop a protocol in order to link multiple networks together in order to begin sending and receiving information from other computers. After that, the internet began to develop into being able to receive and send emails and eventually it lead to the introduction of hypertext markup language (HTML). Finally, in the year 2000, Google was invented.

The World Wide Web is what we know as (www...). This is used as an information bank in which documents and other resources are stored for anyone to very quickly search through a hyperlink and or any words or phrases that relate to the document in question. The World Wide Web was created by Tim Berners-Lee in the year 1989. He was a British scientest who created the Web while working at CERN. In 1990, Tim had written out and created three different foundation's in which we use today: HTML (used for the foratting of the language for the web), URI (a kind of address used to identify the different resource on the web), and HTTP (which allows for linked resources to be retreived from the web). All those foundations slowly began to develop and eventually began to advance into the quick web we know today.

The first website to be created was on August 6th, 1991. The first website held information about the "WWW" project launched by Tim Berners-Lee. On this website, people would be able to find information on how to create their own web pages and learn further on hypertexts. This website was created to make life easier for those who were confused or needed an extra hand on navigating the web. Just like today, there are websites created to help make our lives a bit easier. This website was then lost due to the fact that through the excitement and process of webs at the time, no one thought about archiving or saving many websites. After a couple years, the website was restored and can now be found as a URL: http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

LaMarr filmed for frequency-hopping technology in 1941 which became a precursor to secure wi-fi, GPS, and bluetooth which is now used around the world. Hedy LaMarr was an Austrian-born American film actress and inventor.

In the late 1990s, engineers Sven Mattisson and Jim Kardach were working on technology while drinking a beer, and then released the idea of bluetooth. They were looking for a catchy name and decided to dedicate the name to a Viking-era king with a bad tooth, named Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson. Even though all we see in the logo is a "B". These two men decided to hide the two inicials of H and B standing for 'Harald Bluetooth'. This eventually came to light and blew up on twitter by several users commenting on how they just learned teh bluetooth name was just the initials of a 10th century king being merged together.

Hedy LaMarr began her great legacy due to her documentary called 'Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story.' The film chronicles the patent that LaMarr filed for frequency-hopping technology in 1941 that became precursor to the secure wi-fi, GPS ad Bluetooth now used around the world. LaMarr wanted to file a patent with her co-inventor George Antheil which aimed to protect their wartime invention for the radio communcaitions. Their goals was to avoid any Nazi's being able to hack into their system and tune in to what they were saying. The U.S military then took over her idea, and her nor her partner recieved a single cent for their hardwork. In 1991, the first wireless product was given the name WaveLAN. Both the NCR Corp. and At&t Corp. are the ones credited for inventing wi-fi. The now wi-fi alliance had hired Interbrand to come up with a name that was catcier than 'IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence'. Phil Belanger, one of founding membes of the wi-fi alliance gave the idea of naming it "wi-fi" because of the pun 'hi-fi'.
